April Ross

April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball stars who won medals in several Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian who will be joining her at Tokyo. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic gold. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last shot. However, she's confident that winning the gold medal is at hand. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays very well, or even at all, they can earn a gold. It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents in the area. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. Although she was a pro when playing indoors, it was clear that her skills were above normal. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker and setter throughout her volleyball time during high school. For her efforts, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. She also was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Although Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight since 2017, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach prior to their team. In reality, she's had numerous big wins and one partner was a volleyball superstar. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Together together with Kessy, Ross won the World Championship in 2009, while racing in the international circuit. They were awarded a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They won the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She played during high school and in some years before she hit the beach professionally. Her career was a success in college. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the award and become an All-American. She was also one of the key players to help the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she was able to make it an All-American once more. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans to the summit of the mountain winning successive national titles. She was a great player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female college volleyball player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights in beach volleyball. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She has kept her parent close to the heart. Margie continues to be a source of inspiration, both off and on of the beach.
